Este artigo tem por objetivo traçar um esboço tentativo das relações entre terminologias e atitudes convencionais entre os povos indígenas do nordeste da América do Sul, região conhecida como "Guiana" na literatura etnográfica recente. O exercício consiste em dar a essas esferas dos sistemas de parentesco o mesmo tratamento que Lévi-Strauss concedeu às formas variantes de um mito.
