The Corpus Dionysiacum is the main source of apophatic or negative theology, which has been widely disseminated throughout history. Nowadays, in addition to being a recurring term in the field of philosophy, apophatism is closely linked to the development of modern art, particularly to abstract art. On the other hand, it constitutes the cornerstone of contemporary Orthodox theology, defining itself as its epistemological principle and giving new impetus to the development of sacred art. The present study seeks to locate the place of art in the Corpus Dionysiacum, as a first step towards the development of a theology of art.
