Research data management services at Leibniz University Hanover : A self-assessment by the RDM Service Team based on the RISE questionnaire (v1.1)

Abstract

In 2018, the Research Data Management Service of Leibniz University Hanover conducted a self-evaluation using the “Research Infrastructure Self Evaluation Framework” (RISE) published by the British Digital Curation Centre. The main objective of the self-assessment was to gauge current achievements and to determine the fields in which further development is required in order to update road map documents. Another aim was to test the applicability of “RISE” in a German context. This report presents the results of the self-assessment reflecting the current level of Research Data Management services at Leibniz University Hanover. It also states the reasons, why further development is aspired in certain areas but not in others. Furthermore, limitations and interfaces of the generic services are discussed in the light of the particular conditions in Germany. The self-assessment yielded important insights that will help to develop the local Research Data Management services. Since this is an issue of growing importance for higher education institutions worldwide, this report may also be helpful for service providers elsewhere.
