Kloster Loccum : bauhistorische Untersuchungen zum Zusammenspiel von Topografie, Klosterkirche und einem Wirtschaftsbau

Abstract

Das 1163 gegründete Zisterzienserkloster Loccum im Kreis Nienburg/Weser (Niedersachsen) zeichnet sich durch seinen umfangreich erhaltenen mittelalterlichen Baubestand aus. Trotz des guten Erhaltungszustandes wurde die Baugeschichte der gesamten Anlage letztmalig von dem Bauforscher Uvo Hölscher vor rund 100 Jahren untersucht. Damals legte Hölscher seinen Schwerpunkt auf die Klosterkirche, während er die erhaltenen Wirtschaftsbauten nur oberflächlich betrachtete. Ihre Baugeschichte ist bislang völlig unbekannt. In der Forschung zeichnete sich allgemein ein Paradigmenwechsel ab, der Anlass gab, die bauhistorischen Untersuchungen zur Klosteranlage Loccum in einen Gesamtzusammenhang zu stellen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden die Klosterkirche und das größte Wirtschaftsgebäude der Loccumer Klosteranlage unter Berücksichtigung der Topografie nun erstmals gemeinsam betrachtet. Als die zwei Hauptbauten der Loccumer Klosteranlage stehen sie stellvertretend für die untrennbare Einheit aus Glaube und Wirtschaftstätigkeit in einem Zisterzienserkloster.
