Bu araştırmada, ilköğretim beş, altı, yedi ve sekizinci sınıf öğrencilerinin algıladıkları sosyal destek türlerinin sıklık ve önem düzeyi puanlarının, sosyal destek kaynaklarına göre anlamlı bir fark gösterip göstermediği incelenmiştir. Tarama modelinde yürütülen bu araştırmaya, İstanbul ilindeki 19 ilköğretim okulunun beş, altı, yedi ve sekizinci sınıflarına devam eden 2148 (1068 kız, 1080 erkek) öğrenci katılmıştır. “Çocuk ve Ergenler İçin Sosyal Destek Ölçeği (ÇESDÖ)” ile toplanan veriler, Tekrarlı Ölçümler İçin Anova ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, öğrencilerin algıladıkları sosyal destek türlerinin sıklık ve önem düzeyi puanlarının, sosyal destek kaynaklarına (aile, öğretmenler, sınıf arkadaşları, yakın arkadaş, okuldaki diğer insanlar) göre anlamlı bir fark gösterdiği bulunmuştur (p<.05). Bu bulgu, destek kaynağının özelliğine (duygusal yakınlık, tutum, rol, statü) göre öğrencilerin tercih ettikleri destek türlerinin farklılaştığını göstermiştir.
