Abstract

Kadın bedeninin alışılagelmiş erotik temsilini yıkarak, yaralı, parçalanmış, hastalıklı bedenler ve kadın vücudunun biyolojik yapısı üzerinde çalışmalar yapan abject sanatın önemli temsilcilerinden Kiki Smith; ruh-beden, yaşam-ölüm, güzellik-iğrençlik temaları üzerinde çalışmalarını biçimlendirir. 1980 sonrasında beden ve kimlik sorgulamalarına yönelen Kiki Smith’in yapıtları; kadın bedeni ve bedensel süreçlerin irdelendiği çalışmalar, ilkel korkular, psikolojik tramvalar, yarı hayvan yarı insan figürler, dinsel ikonlar, doğum, ölüm, vahşet, ahlak temaları üzerinde betimlenir. İzleyicide iğrenme duygusu açığa çıkaran bu beden sorgulamaları; cinsiyet araştırmaları, The roots of Abject art can be traced back to the early 20th century.feminizm ve postmodern söylemle ilişkili olarak dilbilim ve psikanaliz çalışmaları yapan Julia Kristeva’nın “abject” iğrenç kavramı ile ilişkilendirilir

Kiki Smith Kiki Smith, who challenges common concepts of the erotic representation of woman body is an important representative of abject art which focus on infected, shredded bodies and the biological construct of the female body. After 1980, Kiki Smith’s work is described as female body and physical processes, primitive fears, psychological traumas, half-animal half-human figures, religious icons, death, massacre and moral issues. In relation to postmodern expression, these physical questionings which awaken disgust in the audiences is related gender investigations, feminism and and the term “abject” of Julia Kristeva who works on philology and psychoanalyses
