Abstract

Dentro de los postulados de la Reforma Universitaria se incluyó una serie de iniciativas que plantearon la renovación científica, cultural y educativa de las casas de estudios superiores. La docencia libre fue uno de los principios defendidos por los reformistas siguiendo distintos modelos universitarios de procedencia europea. En el artículo se estudia la implementación de la docencia libre en la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de la Universidad de Buenos Aires con el fin de iluminar dos cuestiones. Por un lado, se analiza esta medida dentro de la agenda reformista tomando en cuenta las diferentes posturas y la repercusión de los cursos libres en la vida estudiantil universitaria. Por otro lado, se estudia si este régimen de docencia implicó un proceso de apertura en el acceso a la cátedra. Para ello se toman como fuentes documentos oficiales, revistas estudiantiles y una serie de legajos académicos de un grupo de universitarios que solicitaron ingresar a la docencia luego de la reforma de los estatutos de 1918. El enfoque propuesto vincula el análisis de las modalidades de intervención estudiantil en la política académica con la reconstrucción de prácticas y trayectorias de universitarios que comenzaron a circular en la Universidad tras la Reforma.
