Abstract

El presente artículo busca indagar sobre los orígenes de la visita domiciliaria en la Argentina. La relevancia de esto descansa en que la visita domiciliaria sigue siendo un instrumento de intervención que aún forma parte del quehacer de lxs trabajadores sociales, por lo tanto esta revisión histórica permite establecer ciertas líneas de continuidad con el presente. Para eso, se pone el foco en la Sociedad de Señoras de San Vicente de Paul. Una organización benéfica que desde mediados del siglo XIX despliega su labor caritativa en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires basándose en las premisas religiosas impulsadas por San Vicente de Paul. En este sentido, vale señalar que esta organización estaba conformada únicamente por mujeres. Por lo tanto, en el artículo se busca analizar el rol de estas damas vicentinas en articulación con los estereotipos de género que caracterizan a la época estudiada. A su vez, se estudia específicamente las visitas domiciliarias que realizaban en dicha organización y se reflexiona sobre cómo las mismas implican para las mujeres vicentinas un trabajo no reconocido como tal y la salida al espacio público.
