Abstract

El cultivo de la grana cochinilla fue la riqueza fundamental durante la Colonia en el hoy estado de Oaxaca, en donde se convirtió en el recurso más explotado a falta de minas importantes, En el siglo XIX una innovación tecnológica, el descubrimiento de las anilinas artificiales, acabó con esta actividad, dejando al estado en la marginación económica que hoy lo caracteriza.
