Sull’ultimo romanzo di Pirandello

Sull’ultimo romanzo di Pirandello

Abstract

Giancarlo Mazzacurati defined One, No One and a Hundred Thousand, as Pirandello’s testamentary novel, a breathless and more or less conscious experiment of self-analysis as well as of self-therapy». The protagonist’s research, which concludes itself in his «vitalistic nihilism» (Pupino), with the fragmentation of the identity, the refusal of the name, the panic ecstasy in the vital stream of nature, seems to express, dialectically, as the author says, «the positive side of his thought»: “the announcer of life” as hypostasis of the poet and of the writer, symbolic archetype reached in a long way of identification.
