Giancarlo Mazzacurati ha definito Uno, nessuno e centomila, il romanzo testamentario di Pirandello, «un affannoso e più o meno consapevole esperimento di autoanalisi nonché di autoterapia». Il percorso di ricerca del protagonista, che si conclude, nel suo «nichilismo vitalistico» (Pupino), con la dispersione dell’identità, il rifiuto del nome, l’estasi panica nel flusso vitale della natura, sembra esprimere, dialetticamente, secondo le parole dell’autore, «il lato positivo del suo pensiero»: “l’annunciatore della vita” come ipostasi del poeta e dello scrittore, archetipo simbolico raggiunto in un lungo percorso di individuazione.
Giancarlo Mazzacurati defined One, No One and a Hundred Thousand, as Pirandello’s testamentary novel, a breathless and more or less conscious experiment of self-analysis as well as of self-therapy». The protagonist’s research, which concludes itself in his «vitalistic nihilism» (Pupino), with the fragmentation of the identity, the refusal of the name, the panic ecstasy in the vital stream of nature, seems to express, dialectically, as the author says, «the positive side of his thought»: “the announcer of life” as hypostasis of the poet and of the writer, symbolic archetype reached in a long way of identification.
