La storiografia italiana

Abstract

La storiografia sulle campagne italiane di età contemporanea si fonda con vigore negli anni ’ 50 del secolo scorso, guidata soprattutto da due problemi : la mancata modernizzazione dell’agricoltura secondo il modello inglese e l’assenza storica di una riforma agraria. Negli anni ’ 70, nel contesto mutato di una industrializzazione bruscamente compiuta nel paese, avviene una profonda cesura negli studi, legata anche a un dialogo più stretto con la storiografia europea. Il confronto obbligato con il modello inglese si allenta e questo consente di cogliere meglio la molteplicità delle ragioni dell’esistente, non tutte eludibili né negative. Per circa un trentennio è una produzione di studi ricca e vivace, anche se non riconducibile più a domande centrali unificanti. Ora sembra essere entrata in una fase di notevole rallentamento e di allontanamento dalle tematiche centrali della storiografia contemporaneistica.
