In 1868, it was issued the first volume of the Bullettino di Bibliografia e di Storia delle Scienze Matematiche, edited by the Prince Baldassarre Boncompagni. The Bullettino, which represented the first European journal exclusively devoted to the history of mathematics, continued to be published for the next twenty years. The main purpose of this paper is to describe the contribution of this scientific journal to the re-discovery of the Medieval mathematics, which was also the principal area of interest of Boncompagni's historical research.
