Pasolini, Ungaretti, Terracini : destierro, estilo, libertad

Abstract

Pasolini and Terracini between Latin America and the Roman Suburbs: displacement, liberty, style The present study takes into consideration the relationship between Giuseppe Ungaretti’s observations on Latin-American languages, which he developed starting from his experience in Brazil and the concept of “linguistic liberty” as discussed by Benvenuto Terracini in the Argentinian journal Cursos y conferencias in 1949, and the same concept as discussed by Pier Paolo Pasolini in the fifties in the Italian journal Officina. The comparative analysis focuses on the displacement that both authors suffered: that of Terracini, who had established himself in the Argentinian city of Tucumán up to 1946 as a consequence of the race laws promulgated in Italy in 1938, and that of Pasolini, who first moved to the countryside of Friuli and then to the suburbs of Rome.
