Abstract

Benjamin Fontaine, Restituer le Champ de Mars central, p. 99-111. L’étude archéologique et historique du stade de Domitien construit au début des années 80 au cœur du Champ de Mars nécessite un travail de contextualisation topographique. Cela permet d’expliquer le choix du site d’implantation et les relations entretenues avec les constructions voisines. Afin de réaliser une maquette virtuelle tridimensionnelle du secteur, la collecte et le classement des informations retenues lors du travail de recherches bibliographiques se fait selon une méthode de fiches facilement exploitables et qui permettent une mise à jour constante. Dans cette masse d’informations, les choix scientifiques sont opérés selon des critères stricts ne retenant que les informations archéologiques définitives ou, en cas de doutes, les hypothèses qui font autorité dans la bibliographie et, à défaut, les lacunes documentaires ne sont pas cachées. L’inventaire des connaissances met en évidence une urbanisation en quatre phases principales. Celles-ci sont restituées à travers des plans virtuels superposables, ayant en commun les limites, l’échelle et la codification graphique, afin de retracer la dynamique urbaine du quartier de l’Antiquité jusqu’à la période médiévale. La facilité de lecture et de modification du modèle en constitue l’atout.
