La princesa negada : debates y disputas en torno a la Regencia (1808-1810)

Abstract

En el punto de partida de este ensayo está la advertencia que realizara François-Xavier Guerra en ocasión del Quinto Centenario: la de regresar a los acontecimientos sucedidos entre 1808 y 1810 para observar y analizar todas las alternativas que abrió la crisis de la monarquía española a ambos lados del Atlántico. El proyecto de instaurar una regencia por parte de la infanta Carlota Joaquina de Borbón fue una de tales alternativas y es el tema central de las reflexiones que siguen. El escenario elegido se focaliza, en esta oportunidad, en el debate desarrollado en la Península a partir de la Consulta presentada en agosto de 1809, y el objeto de dicha elección es desplegar las alianzas y conflictos políticos que la precedieron y que a su vez desató en aquel bienio crucial
