This essay intends to point out the key points of Bruno’s fortune in the XX century, with special attention to the latter half of the century. In particular, this essay is focused on Frances Yates’ interpretation, on its relevance but also on the misunderstandings deriving from Yates’ firm identification of magic and Hermeticism – two words and two conceptual entities which must be kept separate in order to understand Bruno’s thought and to determine its true relation with modern science and philosophy.
