La comedia en colaboración: recursos escénicos y teatralidad en Caer para levantar

Abstract

En este artículo se realiza un estudio de los recursos escénicos y dramáticos empleados por tres ingenios del siglo XVII a la hora de asociarse para refundir una comedia de santos. Caer para levantar , comedia escrita en colaboración, resulta ser una refundición de una obra de Mira de Amescua titulada El esclavo del demonio . Hoy la crítica y los estudiosos del teatro áureo conocen y aprecian más la obra que sirvió de modelo; sin embargo, durante los siglos XVII, XVIII y XIX la comedia escrita por Matos Fragoso, Cáncer y Moreto tuvo más éxito que la pieza original. Así pues, he estudiado los recursos escénicos empleados por los colaboradores a fin de descubrir lo que les permitió asegurarle a su obra un éxito en los tablados muy superior a la de Mira. He dividido mi trabajo en cuatro apartados que recogen de una manera global los aspectos más importantes de la representación de una comedia hagiográfica: el escenario y la explotación de lo visual; la función simbólica del objeto; el vestuario y su relación con el desarrollo de la diégesis; el valor del gesto.
