
SEMANTIC Pragmatic Disorder (SPD) was a label coined by psychologists Rapin and Allen in the 1980's to describe a puzzling group of children who were superficially articulate but had problems communicating with people. ‘Semantic’ relates to the word meaning, while ‘pragmatic’ refers to the use of language.
