Along this article, we will focus on the analysis of the uses and values of the discourse marker por cierto, that belongs to the group so called as digressive marker. After that, we will offer some equivalences that can be considered as satisfactory in French, taking into account the complex semantic and pragmatic content of this discourse marker. Thus, we will pay special attention to the ambiguous concept of digression.
