Mushrooms have been related to the Polish culture and tradition for a long time. There is also a custom of picking and consuming them in different ways. Mushrooms mostly occur in the forests possessed by various legal entities. This article presents questions of the ownership of mushrooms as the organisms growing in forests and the rights of various entities to pick them. From the point of view of this article, the problem of the ownership of forests is of great importance. There have also been developed some rights and restrictions in the ownership of possessors. The article is based on the analyses of source-books, mainly law of forests, civil code and nature protection law, as well as books on administrative law, civil law and natural science.
