Abstract A study of the Dufour effect was made for five different gas mixtures: H2–N2, H2–O2, H2–N2O, He–N2O and He–O2. Measurements were made at 25 °C under 700 Torr. The values of the thermal diffusion factor were calculated for the above mixtures from the experimental data on the basis of the thermodynamics of irreversible processes.
