Abstract

For the occasion of the 58th IFLA General Conference to be held in New Delhi, the author gives an overview of the current situation of different types of libraries in India. Included are public libraries, general research libraries, university libraries and business libraries, with particular emphasis given to the activities of public libraries. Also covered are library associations and education and training for librarianship
