Bei der Behandlung gewöhnlicher Differentialgleichungen beschränkt man sich häufig auf die linearisierte Form, da diese - auf die Normalform gebracht - geschlossen gelöst werden kann. Bei bestimmten Differentialgleichungsformen versagt diese Methode. Verf. erläutert entsprechende Kriterien und diskutiert das Entartungsproblem an einer Reihe bekannter Beispiele, bei denen geschlossene Lösungen vorliegen.
