</script>The major problems in the analysis of various natural and potable waters by the method of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (sampling, matrix effects, and spectral interferences) are studied; recommendations for addressing them are given. New data on the use of robust conditions for spectrometer settings to increase its tolerance to matrix effects are considered. The advantages of combination of mass spectrometry with the simpler atomic emission method, which allows expanding the range of determined elements and increasing the reliability of the analysis, are discussed.
