Multilevel inverters like the cascaded H-bridge topology provide multiple benefits compared to traditional B6-bridge inverters. Due to the modular structure of the inverter and the modulation techniques it is necessary to utilize management algorithms to achieve even energy distribution between all battery modules. This paper presents algorithms for state of charge balancing, fault tolerance, and their correlation.
