A PFC based BLDC motor drive using buck-boost and buck-boost buck converter

Abstract

The usage of variable speed drive system nowadays has been increasing in many applications and to save the energy consumption of the devices, there is a necessity in the usage of green and eco-friendly electronics which led to the development of permanent magnet brushless direct current motor. This paper utilizes a BLDCM with highly reliable electrical drive where voltage source inverter feds the motor. The power factor correction circuit for dc-dc converter has been used as the VSI's precursor. The performance of the buck-boost, and buck-boost-buck converters have been analyzed to get the best suited converter from the vast class of converters. The simulation and the performance of the converter fed motor drive is studied using MATLAB/Simulink.
