The integration and acceptance of microwave fiber optic solutions into an expanding set of system-level applications has generated a call for ever-increasing bandwidth. Recent infrastructure advances are pushing these requirements to Q-band and above for satellite communications, broadband sensors, and EW systems. This presentation discusses high performance Microwave Fiber Optic Links with an instantaneous bandwidth from 10MHz to 50GHz developed by Linear Photonics. These photonic transmitter and receiver modules can be integrated with hybrid ultra-broadband controllable-gain pre and post-amplifiers for end-to-end performance consisting of low noise figure and high dynamic range, and are capable of operation over wide temperature ranges and in difficult environments. The implementation, technical performance and applications of these links will be discussed.
