This paper introduces radio over fiber (RoF) as one of enabling technologies of the fourth generation (4G) wireless communication. The RoF is a key technology to solve the problem about the high radio-wave propagation attenuation of 4G systems whose frequency band is expected to be higher than 3 GHz. In addition, this technology enables 4G systems based on pico-cells to decrease transmitting power, increase the efficiency of frequency reuse, and provide cost effective deployment.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 4 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
