Instrumentation and Measurement for Education [Instrumentation Notes]

Abstract

When I started writing this column, I had just finished teaching a required course called "Analog and Digital Electronics" during a short summer semester. This course is given several times each year and is a semester-long course. It is given to a wide variety of students; the common factor is they are not students of electrical or electronics engineering. Over the course of a single month, I taught the course to students who are studying software engineering. The course format was not ideal, since each meeting lasted for about six hours. (Thankfully, there were several breaks over the course of each six hour meeting.) This was very challenging for both the instructor and the students.
