Voltage-Mode control of Hybrid Switched Capacitor Converters

Abstract

In this paper analysis and controller design of a voltage-mode controlled of hybrid switched capacitor converter is presented. The state-space averaging method is applied to formulate the small-signal models, valid up-to half of the switching frequency, of the converter and a loop gain is adapted to design the voltage-mode feedback compensation. Closed-loop performance of a hybrid switched capacitor converter is analysed. The results of controller design and closed-loop analysis are illustrated through computer simulations. To validate the controller design and analysis, experimental observations of a prototype switched-capacitor converter are provided for 28 V applications.
