Synchronization control of a magnetic levitation system powered by alternating current

Abstract

This work presents the synchronization control of two magnetic levitation systems powered by alternating current and where the technology on which this platform is based is the effect of repulsion that is presented in a pair of windings (coil-ring). The prototype considered in this work includes the use of two Thomson's rings in which the magnetic field generated by the coil (primary winding) causes the ring to float on the steel core. The path tracking and synchronization goals are achieved by considering a modification of a control strategy presented initially on the field of mobile robotics [1], together with a second order sliding mode technique. The overall control strategy is evaluated on a laboratory prototype by carrying out real time experiments.
