Experimental studio data acquisition system at VR-1 reactor

Abstract

The VR-1 reactor is operated by the Czech Technical University in Prague more than 20 years. The reactor is utilized mainly for education and training purposes. Therefore, the Czech Technical University, as a reactor licensee, makes an effort to continuously improve the reactor equipment, instrumentation and the educational and training methodologies. It is the way of providing an effective education and training and keeping the reactor attractive for the students and other users. An example of such improvement is the data acquisition system allowing the real-time processing and analysing of the reactor operating data. The system has been designed and developed by dataPartner Company based on the reactor staff requirements. The system allows processing and easy analysis of the wide range of reactor operating data (e.g. reactor power, power rate changes, control rod position etc.). The data acquisition system is successfully utilized at the VR-1 reactor more than five years. Currently, the system is upgraded and extended to allow the acquisition, process and analysis of the data from several reactor experimental devices.
