Electromagnetic calculation of induction motor by “ANSYS Maxwell”

Abstract

Induction motors are the most common machines that are used as drive of mechanismes, pumps, etc. Electromagnetic calculation is an important part of the design process for induction motors. The paper presents an actions algorithm that is necessary for calculating the parameters of an electrical machine with using “ANSYS Maxwell”. The authors show a calculating method for determining the induction in the air gap, the main flow, the method of calculating and constructing the mechanical characteristic of the induction motor with squirrel cage rotor. Also graphs of various characteristics are presented in the article. The values of the characteristics obtained by “ANSYS Maxwell” are compared with the parameters of the real engine to visually see the accuracy of the calculations performed.
