Embedded reconfiguration of panels to obtain the maximum power of a PV array

Abstract

This document presents the reconfiguration of solar panels to improve the power curve from a Photovoltaic array. The proposal consists in an embedded system aimed to reconnect each PV panel and therefore change the properties of the entire array. Simulated waveforms are included for a 2×2 array and the analysis is completed with the experimental implementation of a reconfigurable array as a proof-of-concept prototype. Also, a broad description of the reconfiguration algorithm is provided. The simulated and experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the presented approach.
