An Integrated Methodology For Computer Graphics Instruction In An Undergraduate Computer Science Program

Abstract

An overview of related courses that are used in Computer Graphics at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Johnson City, Tennessee is presented. The program has an integrated approach in that the basic concepts are introduced in the "Introduction to Computer Science" course by programming projects which produce elementary drawings on a line printer. This fundamental knowledge base is developed further in the outlined course "Data Structures". These two courses are pre-requisites for further study in computer graphics. The courses entitled "Interactive Computer Graphics", "Digital Image Processing" and "Database Management are specialized courses which provide the students with extensive information, practical applications and hands-on experience in complex computer graphics programming and the management of graphics structures.
