Non-isolated flyback switching capacitor voltage regulator

Abstract

This paper proposes a novel non-isolated flyback switching capacitor voltage regulator. The converter is a combination of a switching capacitor converter and a PWM voltage regulator, and it has the following advantages: 1) The switches achieve zero voltage switching (ZVS). 2) Applying the additional transformer winding self-driven method to reduce the driver loss and the synchronous rectifier body diode conduction loss. 3) Its efficiency is not sensitive to leakage inductor, so the ordinary discrete transformer which is easy to install can be used to save the cost. 4) Single phase option makes it more flexible. Its derivation, operation principle and self-driven method are illustrated. A single-phase 700kHz 1.2V/35A output POL prototype was built to verify the analysis.
