A novel passive tree topology used in avionics network

Abstract

By replace the fibre channel switch in the switched-fabric topological FC-AE-1553 network with a passive optical splitter, data can be conducted and distributed simultaneously into many destinations. This point-to-multipoint data transmission system need to be constructed for avionics protocol standards, so the FC-AE-1553 protocol stack is expanded optimized in this novel topology, especially exchange format. Finally, the network performance was analyzed after four different kinds of topological network mathematical modeling and simulating, such as node scalability, mission reliability, network time-delay, power consumption and netting cost. Analysis showed that this novel topology also has the added benefit of simple structure, and easy maintenance besides low extensibility, particularly well suited for aerospace system which is sensitive to power consumption and maintenance costs.
