Simupmsam - An Analytical Modeling Tool for Permanent Magnet Synchronous and Asynchronous Machines

Abstract

This paper proposes an analytical modeling tool for Permanent Magnet Induction, and Synchronous Generators. These two types of generators used in the green energy resources as wind farms due to their highly efficiency compared to other types of machines. For that reason, a numerical tool SIMUPMSAM (SIMulation for Permanent Magnet Synchronous and Asynchronous Machines) was made. This tool depends mainly on Maxwell, and Poissonian formulations for flux density distribution in the machines. Furthermore, the aim from building this tool is to facilitate the pre-design stages for the engineers in predicting the post-processing results on MATLAB®, with less time consuming during simulation compared to the finite element analysis. This tool was made in the Graphical User Interface MATLAB/GUI environment, which provide the user to optimize the corresponding results, by varying consecutively a supposed parameter in the geometry of the machine.
