We present theory, design process and numerical results relevant to a X-band isoflux circularly polarized antenna for LEO satellite platform. The device is based on a metasurface made of a texture of small patches on a grounded dielectric slab. An in-plane feeder excites a surface wave on the metasurface that transforms it into a leaky wave The final result is a satisfactory proof of concept device representing an innovative solution for satellite applications.
