Application of Single-Stage Boost Inverter for Electric Vehicles

Abstract

This paper proposes a structure of electric vehicle (EV) closed-loop system fed by the single-stage boost inverter (SSBI). The SSBI uses only one-stage conversion circuit to boost the dc- link voltage by regulating shoot-through zero state, which overcomes conventional voltage source inverters' drawbacks. In order to illustrate the EV closed-loop system, fully analysis of the SSBI has been carried out. Also, the operation principle of the dc-link voltage control and the field-oriented motor control has been presented in detail. The performance of the proposed system is valid by MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation using a 1kW induction motor. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed EV closed-loop system.
