In this paper, we present the state of the art of communication technology related to the capsule endoscopes (CEs) and analyze the technologies and characteristics of commercialized CEs on the current global market. The study shows that the communication technology of human body communication (HBC) can reduce the power consumption and have a smaller size of CE compared to radio frequency (RF) communications technology, since the HBC doesn't use power consuming RF components and antenna.
