The scaling behavior of the observed fragment yields in the reactions induced by high-energy proton and relativistic heavy ions can be explained in terms of a rate equation. In the mean field approximation we have been able to show that the solution of the rate equation after a large time develops a scaling form that can then be compared with experiments.
