Of the twelve species of Myriopda obtained by Messrs. George Gulliver and H. H. Slater, seven are referable to the Chilognatha and five to the Chilopoda : all, with the exception of the two species of Scolopendra (and possibly Spirostreptus sorornus and the Mecistocephalus ), appear to be new to science. So few naturalists have interested themselves in the study of these animals, that it is impossible at present even to form an opinion as to the geographical distribution of the species of Rodriguez; all that can be said is that, in all probability, the two forms of Scolopendra will be found abundantly in Madagascar.
