Treissman, M.B., B.S., F.R.C.S. (Eng.), D.O.M.S., and E. A. Plaice. Price, 10s 6d. Pp. 88, with 40 illustrations. London: Henry Kimpton, 1946. The authors state that "so far as we are aware, no publication has yet appeared in this country which deals with the principles and uses of these lenses." This book must therefore have preceded by a short time the excellent work "An Introduction to the Prescribing and Fitting of Contact Lenses," by Frank Dickinson and K. G. Clifford Hall, London, Hammond, Hammond & Co., 1946. This little book is 5/16 inch thick, of which about half is accounted for by the cover. The subjects discussed, which include a description of contact lenses, comparison with spectacles, indications for uses and tolerance, have all been treated in numerous books, articles and papers. The reviewer can think of no reason for publishing this paper as a book, or for its price\p=m-\morethan $2 at the current rate of exchange. G. M. Bruce.
