Learning Point for Clinicians Hepatoid adenocarcinoma of lung is a rare type of lung cancer which is defined as an α-fetoprotein—producing primary carcinoma with morphological features similar to hepatocellular carcinoma. Establishing the diagnosis of HAL is worthwhile because of the potential for altered management. A 79-year-old Chinese male smoker (50 pack-year), was admitted to the Department of General Internal Medicine at Ningbo Number 1 Hospital due to cough and sputum production over a 1-month period.
