Abstract

It is a truism that the largest "white" church in South Africa, the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC), has an important role to play in the ecumenical family and in the establishment of a new democratic order in the region. Seen against its ambiguous political role in the past, it seems appropriate to assess its role in the present context, now that it is back in the fold of the South African Council of Churches.
