Abstract A sociolinguistic study of the influence of English on the speech of forty-six upper secondary school students from two schools in the same socio-geographic area of Oslo. The survey takes up the informants’ contact with and attitudes toward English, and the question of whether their use of English in Norwegian is systematic and conscious.
