Redeeming the Fall: Hick's Schleiermacher versus Niebuhr's Kierkegaard

Abstract

La these de cet article est que la theodicee de Reinhold Niebuhr n'est pas correctement decrite par une typologie augustinienne. En premier lieu, l'auteur propose d'aborder le type de theodicee ireneenne de Schleiermacher, puis il etudie les themes de la nature humaine et de la chute dans la pensee de Kierkegaard. Ensuite il developpe l'idee de Niebuhr de la construction de la nature humaine. Enfin, il etablit les similitudes et les divergences entre Kierkegaard et Niebuhr. Il suggere que la pensee Kierkegaardienne de Niebuhr offre un chemin intermediaire creatif entre les types de theodicee calviniste-augustinienne et celle irenienne de Schleiermacher definis par Hick, car il propose une theodicee qui englobe le meilleur et evite le pire des deux autres.
