Abstract

Cette etude tente d'interpreter le chamanisme Baniwa a la lumiere des perspectives offertes dans Icanshu's Drum de Lawrence Sullivan. Elles est divisee en deux parties. La premiere aborde les pratiques de guerison, les devoirs, les attributs et le statut des chamans et des chanteurs. Bien que leurs activites soient chamaniques, l'A. prefere se limiter aux chamans. Afin de comprendre le chamanisme, il propose une introduction a leur cosmogonie, c'est a dire a la maniere dont l'univers s'organise en un systeme coherent et maladif necessitant un besoin constant de cicatrisation
