A number of investigations have recently been made with regard to the relative merits of the lecture-demonstration method and the laboratory method of instruction in science. Cooprider' and Johnson2 compared these methods with classes in biology; Cunningham,3 with classes in botany; Anibal,4 Knox,s Nash and Phillips,6 and Wiley,7 with classes in chemistry; and Phillips' and Kiebler and Woody,9 with classes in physics.
